Biscuit Ingredients
2 cups White Lily® Enriched Unbleached Self-Rising Flour or White Lily® Enriched Bleached Self-Rising Flour
1/4 cup butter or shortening
3/4 cup buttermilk or milk
Gravy Ingredients
1 package White Lily® Original Country Gravy Mix
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Thyme Leaves or McCormick® Parsley Flakes
Instructions
For the biscuits, preheat oven to 475°F. Place flour in a large bowl. Using a pastry cutter or fork, cut butter or shortening into flour until mixture forms pea-sized crumbs. Add buttermilk, stirring with fork just until flour mixture is moistened.
Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Gently roll dough using floured rolling pin to 1–inch thick. Cut out 12 rounds using floured 2-inch biscuit cutter (or the rim of a cup), re rolling dough scraps as needed. Place biscuits on large baking sheet with edges touching
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Meanwhile, prepare Gravy as directed on package, stirring in thyme leaves once gravy comes to a boil. Serve hot gravy over warm biscuits.
Test Kitchen Tip: For creamier gravy, substitute milk in place of water.
