Ingredients
Chicken and Waffles Ingredients
1 1/4 cups White Lily® Enriched Bleached Self-Rising Flour or White Lily® Unbleached Self-Rising Flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 large eggs, separated
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 cup buttermilk
Breaded chicken strips, prepared according to package instructions
Gravy Ingredients
1 package White Lily® Sausage Country Gravy Mix
2 cups water
McCormick® Parsley Flakes
Instructions
For the waffles, mix flour and baking soda in medium bowl; set aside. Beat egg whites in small bowl with electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Mix egg yolks, butter and buttermilk in separate medium bowl until blended. Stir egg yolk mixture into flour mixture. Fold in egg whites, just until blended.
Pour batter into preheated waffle iron sprayed lightly with no stick cooking spray (about 1/3 cup per waffle). Cook until no longer steaming. Open waffle iron and loosen waffle with fork. Keep warm.
Meanwhile, prepare Gravy as directed on package. Keep warm until ready to serve.
To serve, place one chicken strip on top of each waffle. Spoon gravy over top of chicken and waffles and sprinkle with parsley. Serve hot.
Kitchen Tip: For creamier gravy, substitute milk in place of water.
